Default 1982 yamaha g1

Hi all, im a newbie to this site.
Me and my buddy were riding his cart out in the cranberry bogs in the pouring rain and the cart started acting up so we brought it home, and right when we pulled into the drive way it bogged stalled and would not start. The next day we took the plug out and there was no spark, so he purchased a new ignitior coil that was not the problem. I've literally been searching every trying to find the problem. we get no volt's or ohm's anywhere on the cdi wiring. please help :/ its so frustrating thanks in adavance.

Did you try spraying all the electricals with WD-40,or Silicone?Something may still be wet.I would start with cleaning/drying everything good. Then take all your connections apart and clean them, from the battery to the engine, clean every cable-connection(Pos. and Neg.).It wouldn't hurt to check all of the wiring-harness connections as well.Hope this helps.

Pretty common to have wiring faults with these. All the grounds are wired there is no frame ground. There are fuses and connections, check them all. They are getting to be a pretty old cart as well.

Thank you all so much! I've only found on ground between the fender and battery. where's the ground on the engine! also is it possible that the gas pedal switch could be messed up? Also if i took a wire and connected it to the neg on the battery and then wired it to cdi black and white wire that comes from the magneto would that ground it? i think that's the problem because we absolutely get no currents running through the wires coming from the motor. thanks

The pick-up under the flywheel may have gone south on you.

Check the 4 wires that run under/ beside the back of the motor on the passenger side for wear, I had the same problem and it turned out they were wore bare.

check the wires right where they run behind the motor to see if they're frayed. Should be at the back of the motor on the passenger side
