Need help with my voltage gauge

I have a 2004 club car ds. I installed a voltage meter to keep track of how much battery life I have while riding. When cart is fully charged the meter is lighting up in the center of gauge indicating it is only half charged. Why is this happening? I've tested the batteries and they read 48volts. Meter never goes to fully charged.

. . . IMO, get rid of led bar meter and install a digital meter like the one that ScottyB sells . . . . no more guess work . . .

If the batteries are only reading 48 volts they are in bad need of being charged.

I'm confused. It's a 48volt cart. Why you say it needs charging if it's reading 48v

Full SOC 100% should be reading 51volts or so

48 volts is below 50 % put them on charger right away before you damage them

Think about it like your car,the volt gauge is usually 14-15 volts,but its a 12volt system.

Here is Scottyb's gauge in my '92 CC DS 36v. I wired mine directly to the batteries and not via switched power. Couldn't be happier with it and nice not having to grab the DVM to check voltage. Now I just look at the gauge. :) I do warn one thing though, it is weird seeing the voltage rise and drop when driving. Perfectly normal, just weird seeing the numbers live.

If you do actually have them charged it may be due to a wrong connection somewhere. I recently had this problem in my 94 DS and was having the same reading even after a charge (I have one wire directly too a battery terminal and one wire to the ignition, a wire then runs from the ignition to the solenoid which connects to the battery) anyway the wire was on the wrong side of the solenoid causing its reading to be way off. If yours was wired anything like mine that may be the problem
