Default How big of cables can I run on a (for now) stock setup?

Hi all! I just got a 2002 TXT PDS cart for free, and I'm wanting to make and upgrade my cables. I do plan on eventually getting a 500amp controller and supporting parts, and I'm wondering if I'd be okay going with 2ga. wires now or should I stick with 4ga for the time being because it's still "stock"? I don't want to have to buy/make cables twice so if I'm okay doing 2ga from the beginning that would be ideal.
Thank!

Awesome, thats what I was hoping for! I truly didn't expect to hear that they would be "too big" for a stock setup. With my electric knowledge, I didn't think that'd be true. But figured I'd ask the professionals that have been doing it awhile haha

Overkill is underrated!

A complete set of silver soldered 2Ga cables was my first upgrade.

One thing to keep in mind is that 8V batteries have both terminals on the same side, so they need longer interconnecting cables than 6V batteries. (A 6 x 8V battery pack is one of the ways to get 48V)
