"real brake" not really an issue with RXV's.
If cart will move under its own power-the brakes work.
Same system for stop and go.
Brake issue is parking/emergency brake---- Well known issue, shouldn't surprise you
with sudden catastrophic failure.
usual failure mode is drag/overheat.
Only when this is ignored for a while does brake completely fail.

20 mph top legal speed for GOLF CARTS in Ga. RXV's run close to that STOCK .
Great in Hilly areas. Blow away many upgraded (motor controller) carts
in our area on hills.

AC motors dont come "Unwound" on downhills due to over-revving.
RXV's automatically apply "Regen" braking to keep under governed speed on down hills.

Dont cross RXV's off list until you drive one.

Thanks for the comments. I have driven quite a few of them. Some dealers, others here where I live. Right now local dealer has a 2010 RVX with the high speed gears and asking #$3750 which I am considering. Previous owner put off-brand batteries from Battery Plus in the thing which I would have to replace which is no big deal. Test drove it with my Garmin and clocked 28 mph.

But here is what bothers me about the RXV. I am certainly no expert on E-Z-GO. They make really good carts overall. With that said from looking at specs and under the hood the RXV and 2Five have the exact same 48 volt AC motor, and the controllers are similar. If I remember correctly the RXV has a 230 amps and 2Five has a 235 amp controller. However the 2Five has 4-wheel hydraulic disc brakes and a independent suspension. Makes one ask why does 5 miles an hour make such a huge difference.

On the bright side assuming the RXV and 2Five use the same motor, that motor has more in it left locked upand needs a controller upgrade to get all there is.

Wished I knew more about the motor, I am an EE with a fair bit of AC Induction and BLDC motor experience and might be able to match up a controller from Curtis or another EV supplier.

What I do like about EZGO is they broke the mold with the first to use a AC motor. AC motors are much better suited for EV's. Much higher efficiency, higher power to weight ratio, constant Torque across the RPM or Constant HP, and last for a long long time. Eventually all the cart manufactures will have to at least come out with a AC motor in addition to their DC line-up. Only thing really holding things up is the price of the controllers as they are more complex. The motors themselves are less expensive.

The rxv and 2five also have different gears to get the speed. A stock rxv with stock gears is already spinning around 6400 rpm at 19mph.

Yeah what I would call a Golf Package. Ball Washer, cooler, and sand bottles.

Golf package is optional on the 2Five actually, unless the dealer already installed it on the cart your looking at.

2Five features the following which make it "street legal" from the factory in most states:

DOT Approved Tires
Seat Belts
Automotive Glass Windshield
4 Wheel disc brakes
Mirrors, Headlights, and Taillights
Max speed of 25 MPH
