Default No power

My 1999 ezgo does good on flat or pulling small incline but if you pull front tires up to a small curb it want pull over it . The motor is not revving up so the belt is not slipping . I think I might be having clutch problems the rear clutch was not engaging so I put a little oil on it and let it set for a while and tapped it with a hammer it started engaging then . So I am asking if I need to get all new clutches or do something else. Thanks

The buttons in the rear driven clutch may be worn. Cheap to replace.

I would pull the clutch apart and clean it. I'd also lube the shaft while apart. The inner sheave slides on the shaft and may be dry not allowing the sheave to move in and out as needed to engage and shift fully.

Just curious for my education. The OP says the motor is not revving. How is this a clutch problem if the motor is not doing anything? I know he said something about the clutch, but if the motor is not revving how is the clutch going to engage anyway.

Sorry if I misunderstand!

It almost sounded like he meant the motor was boggin down. Idk. He will need to give a little bit more info. Like maybe pulling the seat and watching the clutches move along with the belt while sitting on a 2x6. But if the driven clutch is sticking it could be worn buttons which leads toworn rramps due to the bolt heads digging into them.

Sccowboy (Correct) Had it happen just a bit ago. The secondary clutch bound in the open position due to lube and a worn bushing the primary closed but it tries to move which seems like HIGH gear. Made it close and lubed it with dry lube and good to go. It will move when this problem occurs but has NO power. LOU

Right ... a basic gear ratio issue.
