'91 Marathon governor adjustment?
Just bought a '91 Marathon with the 2 stroke motor. I've seen seen threads regarding the governor adjustment on the 4 strokes, but not so much on the 2 strokes. Is the process the same? Just tighten the bolt that runs through the spring a little? I want eek a little more speed out of it, but not overdo it and cause damage.
I plan on removing the carb and giving it a good cleaning. Just messing around with it in the cart I noticed the main shaft going into the carb, that is attached to the governor, has a lot of play in it. It seems to wiggle around in the carb a good bit. Is this normal, or a sign the carb may be worn? TIA |

Re: '91 Marathon governor adjustment?
The procedure is the basically the same. You can adjust the slack in the linkages but make sure that once you get done, the carb plate closes fully just before the pedal micro switch cuts off. Otherwise it will backfire and could blow out the crank seals.
