Clutch is engaging really hard
I have a 96 ezgo and when you are giving it gas to take off the take off isnt easy, the clutch egages all at once with force and spins the tires. it does it in forward and reverse. If you feather the gas pedal sometimes it wont do this but most of the time it will. Any ideas on where to start trouble shooting?

Re: Clutch is engaging really hard
Welcome to BGW!
Did it just start doing this, or has it always done it? |

Re: Clutch is engaging really hard
Thank you. It has done it since i have owned it which has been about a year. I jacked it up and ermoved the drive belt, gave it some throttle and the primary clutch would engage really hard all the way to the generator belt pulley. I am under the impression it is suppose to engage gradually.

Re: Clutch is engaging really hard
Im not an expert but maybe the throttle cable position needs to be changed. Seems like the pedal is to sensitive where its located. If you had it hooked up to the old gov arm then try putting it up or down that arm and test it.

Does the clutch open all the way with out a belt when you back off the gas,
if so you may have to open the clutch and check for worn or broken parts. |

Re: Clutch is engaging really hard
Yea the clutch will open all the way, are you suppose to be able to push it in with ease when the belt is removed?

Re: Clutch is engaging really hard
How is the drive belt? It could be worn thin, and causing the clutch to engage at too high rpm.

Re: Clutch is engaging really hard
I would definitely start with a new correct drive belt, if the belt is wore or a tad too long the clutch will hit hard, this can cause damage to the splines on the rear hubs from the clutch engaging too hard.
