Default Electric Ez go golf cart dies

I let the batteries in my ezgo electric golf cart go almost dry. They are 3 years old. I filled and charged them but the cart would only run about 10 minutes before losing power. I figured I ruined the batteries. So, I replaced the batteries with new ones. The cart ran great for about 2 minutes before it died and lost all power. The voltage meter doesn't show any charge at all on it. It went from fully charged to dead. What could be wrong? thanks. Cart is around a 2000 model.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks for the tip on the "reed switch". I did a search of those terms on this website and it came up empty though.

check your cables and battery post...take voltage reading directly from battery post.

I'm wondering if you didn't "fry" your charging wires. Check your charging wires to see if they are in good shape and not brittle or broken from heat.

The charging wires look fine. I have cleaned all the cables and replaced a couple of them. The voltage meter built on the cart was reading 36V fully charged when I started driving it. Then 2 minutes later I can't get a reading and the cart won't move. Batteries are brand new. The lights work though. :) Any other thoughts? Thanks.
