Default Question to a probably obvious answer...

I bought some corrosion protection but am curious if it is conductive. My question is whether I should coat the terminals as well as the lugs or should I connect the lugs before coating the terminal posts?

I paint every surface with a small brush, then assemble the connections. I never get any corrosion. Never.

I can't find any info on the stuff I bought though. There is no label on it either.

GornoMan,

I too am curious as to what you are painting with. I have a similar color material, but it comes in a spray can, and gets kinda messy to apply as neatly as you have.

That is a very large fuse in the high-current circuit to protect against bad juju.

I spray the protectant right into its own cap and apply it with a 1 inch brush. Much neater application.

And what brand is it? Mine came in a metal can like you'd find for PVC adhesive.

Another question I have is this. I bought new batteries when I started this project but had the original cables in it. I've already ordered replacements but have also already begun seeing corrosion on the lugs. Has this shortened the life of my batteries in any way?
I plan on replacing the cables and coating every connection like you have but am worried that some damage has been done in the short month since I've been running it.
