Neighbors cart not charging
Neighbor called me to tell me his 2003 IQ cart would not charge. Thinking it may be his charger, I took mine over to see if it would work. But as always the first thing I do is check battery voltage. As I was walking over to it with a VOM. I asked how old the batteries were. He said he just bought them last year. He said he kept the water up with distilled water. Ok all good so far. I lift the seat up and to my surprise only 3 fill caps per battery. He had installed 6 brand new 6v batteries is a 48v IQ cart. I am surprised he got to use it at all last year. He said his wife at times had charged the batteries individually with an automotive charger, but they didn't last long. I am surprised the charger came on at all or if it ever did. What is minimum voltage for 48v charger to kick in?

Re: Neighbors cart not charging
The thing about batteries is, no one who does not have a cart or tinker with them knows there is such a thing as eight volt batteries. They are about the size of of six volt batteries, and most twelve volt car batteries. Until the last few years most electric carts were 36 volt using six volt batteries.

Re: Neighbors cart not charging
CC introduced 48v drive systems 20 years ago. But this still happens. Unfortunately his batteries are cooked.THey probably have some reduced life left in them if paired with the proper cart & charger.
