Default Light installation

I'm moving lights from one cart to another. On the front, I noticed that they cut from the edge up and around and back off the edge. Looking at the light, it appears that I could just cut a hole. That would leave about a 1/2" of the body under the light. Not sure if the extra ridgetty is worth the effort.

On the back, how do you determine where to cut the holes. I was thinking I might have to make some kind of template from the old cart. Unless you guys know of a easy way.

The fronts, to make them fit right,IMO, you need to cut edge to edge. Stiffens the plastic up fine.I'd just use some paper from underneath of the mounted-cart holes and trace a pattern.

Another question

The lights were mounted in the old cart with screws through plastic anchors. Like the kind you put in drywall. Is that really how they do it? Looks kind of cheesy.
