Medalist project rear axel flip
Starting my first project, A Medalist without a motor. I'm still in the discovery phase, but I'm leaning towards a running cart first and lift and looks can come later.
My question is what size tire can I fit on the back if I move the springs to the top of the axle? I see places that say 20in tire fits and others that say needs a lift. I'm thinking the old school hot rod look will work for now with some larger tires in the back and the stocks in the front. Would that give me enough to do a 22in tire on a 10in rim? Eventually I want to go long travel suspension, but don't have the funds for that and a motor right now so thinking cheap wheels and couple of tires that can be mounted on some nicer looking wheels down the road when I'm ready instead of a couple of stock tires that I'll get a few months worth of use out of. |

Re: Medalist project rear axel flip
Putting the springs on top with a 1/2"
spacer in between gives you a 4" lift. The stock U bolts won't allow any more than that. That's what I did and I am running 22" tires with plenty of clearance. I would post a pic but I don't know how to here |
