Default Turns over, but no spark - 1999 TXT

Brother-in-law has a 99 TXT gas. It ran great last year, sat all winter without use, and would not start last night.

The ignition switch works, lights work, it's getting fuel, when the gear selector is positioned on reverse it buzzes, the engine turns over - but it does not produce spark at the spark plugs. We removed the spark plugs and replaced them, but still no spark.

Neither of us knows squat about electricity or electrical systems. Advice is appreciated, especially if there's a common issue related to these carts.

Using a Harbor Freight Multimeter I have but have never used ( http://www.harborfreight.com/7-funct...ter-90899.html ), we are willing to accept all suggestions.

Thank you.

Do you have a spark tester? If not, remove the plug and put it in the boot.. Ground the electrode to something metal/grounded on the cart and press the accelerator and see if you have any spark at all... If not, fall back to the pulsar coil and check the contacts to see if they are clean... The pulsar could be bad.. the coil could also be bad.. Make sure your coil wires are tight on the coil studs and that the bracket is grounded well...

Thank you, Ez Go Go. We will look up "Pulsar coil" to see what it looks like, and will take your other advice and apply it, too.

I'll post late tonight with our findings. Thanks again.

We are going to purchase a new coil tomorrow. While not sure we were properly testing it, the wiring all seems good and intact up to that point.

I'll post again after we install it.

The EzGo is running.

After purchasing a coil and not having spark, a person more familiar with electrical systems used a multi-meter to check a few things. He discovered no juice at the wiring behind the flywheel. As it turns out, rodents had chewed through the wiring at that location, and once corrected, the cart started right up.
