Best approach for 25mph on a precedent
Looking at picking up another precedent......what is my best approach to attaining approximately 25mph in the cart? I feel like sometimes we throw money at these carts on mods that are trendy and don't always see the performance we anticipate. I hear mention of gears, of course controllers and or motors.....
Seems like a plum quick bandit motor and done.....but looking for advice. Had a plum quick bandit in an older DS and didn't see much speed...only torque.....but I blame crappy batteries. what my best approach....I'm looking at 2007 and 2011 48v precedents Thanks! |

My bandit motor and Curtis 350 amp controller with 4 ga cables and 20.5 tires, you'll be happy.

Re: Best approach for 25mph on a precedent
Well nothing trendy about first looking at a heavy duty solenoid and a set of 4 or 2 gauge cables. While that will not gain you any speed it starts the solid and dependable platform that you need for building a cart.
Many folks get darn near 25 MPH from just a PQB motor and get a solid 25 or more by adding an upgraded controller. You can look at my sig line and see my carts basic build and speed (I've seen 40 down hill with wind) with one and sometimes 2 fools on board, with 4 souls I'm sure I could do 25 on the flat but to be truthful I just don't know as I'd like for them to want to ride with me again.... Myself I'd stay away from gear changes if for no other reason than there is no need to when speed as well as torque really is no further away than 2 bolts from a Bandit motor... |

In South Fl a bandit motor would be all you need for a neighbor cruiser. If you plan on using it street legal I would go with a higher HP motor. Just so you don't become a traffic hazard. The price difference between them isn't that great but the performance is.

Trendy, eh? Well if the trend is towards more torque and speed for a reasonable investment then I say go with the trend. My precedent is doing 23mph on stock tires with a XCT400IQ upgrade. Plus I got switch on the fly speed and torque setting as well as a regen setting on the fly but, hey - I understand you may not want what the neighbor's got.

Re: Best approach for 25mph on a precedent
I have a 2012 CC Prec. added Plum Quick Bandit, 4g Wires, SW180 Solenoid, got 25 easy, then I lifted it 3" and added 22" tires well, 27.... All on shitty 2012 batteries, that were sold to me stating they were 2014 batteries from a MI dealer, that settle at 49.3..... just saying...
