Battery issue

I have a 98 club car 48 volt DS series I had to put two new batteries in,they are next to each other , they start the circuit on the positive side , for some reason the first battery keeps dieing , could it not be getting charged ? I have replaced it 3 times and it lasts about a week then goes dead ..

Something isn't hooked up right most likely, the pack should charge as one unit. Post pictures of your battery pack so we can see the wiring, also you should never replace one or two batteries, they won't last as long and replacing the entire pack at once, they will not charge properly as they will either over charge or under charge the rest of the pack.

DOUBLE POST ~ BUT ANYWAY...

Sounds to me like you misplaced or mislanded the small red (# 10 gauge) charging lead from your charge port. If your first battery keeps dying over and over then it is NOT being charged... It sounds as though your charging lead is landed on the 2nd battery not the first!

So does that red wire have to be on the first battery ?

YES... How else is it supposed to charge the first battery? This is a series wiring in that one battery is hooked to the next like circus elephants so that the voltage adds up and must be charged in the same way...

Ok moved the red wire to the first battery , now it charges to about half way then the charger kicks off and the orange light comes on the dash , if I plug the charger back in it won't charge at all , any suggestions would be great thanks ...

The best thing to do now is reset the OBC.

Disconnect the pack negative cable and leave it disconnected for more than 10 minutes.

Re-connect the cable and start a charge cycle, it will take longer than usual for the first time.

Also keep in mind that if You unplug the DC cord from the cart, you need to wait at least 20 seconds before You plug it back in if You want to start another charge cycle.

With all the moving of wires and cables, I wonder if the main negative is routed through the hole in the obc to b- controller?

I did replace the negotive cable and did not put through the hole , would that be the issue ?
