Powerwise 2 question
Anyone know if the powerwise 2 has a powerboard that can be replaced like the powerwise. I have one that charges but never puts out more than 5 amps.

Re: Powerwise 2 question
That's usually a capacitor problem, not the board.

Re: Powerwise 2 question
Capacitor an easy fix or is it better to throw away?

Re: Powerwise 2 question
Easy.... If you can take off the housing (screwdriver), you can replace the capacitor !
it will have a series of numbers... one group will denote its "size", as in microfarads.(uf)....you will need to replace will the exact same capacitance. Best idea, get the exact model number of your charger, go to one of site sponsors, and get the right part "el quick-o" (Texan for fast) here is an example....but make sure it is the correct one !! https://www.ecartparts.com/capacitor...-replacement-2 Hope this helps ! |

Re: Powerwise 2 question
Ok, if the capacitor is bad, will it charge at all? This one does charge but at a trickle.

Re: Powerwise 2 question
Quote:
It is a ferroresonant transformer with a boost capacitor. The transformer has an open circuit voltage of about 60VAC without the capacitor and about 90VAC with it. Of course, the voltage isn't that high when connected to a 36V battery pack and amps are being drawn. When the PW-II is first connected to battery pack, it puts out about 20A until the on-charge voltage climbs above about 40V, than the amps start to taper off and get down to about 5A, or so, as the on-charge voltage reaches about 45V and the charger shuts off. |

Re: Powerwise 2 question
Problem is, I don’t know if it’s worked in the past. Should I just order what Tex gave me the link to?
