Guys I really appreciate you chiming in here . I will do another check on the reeds ,and that the piston is installed correctly . Aside from those , is there anything else that I might want to look at ?

It’s closing all the way and I can hear the difference when I choke it while turning over . So, I believe it is , yes .

Okay check for vacuum leaks maybe at the vacuum reservoir that says "Yamaha" on it or at one of the hoses on the carb for oil injection etc. Also I'm going to circle back to the carb again - if the float needle is not letting fuel in the carb bowl, or if there's a piece of dirt in the jet. Pull the carb bowl off, the gasket should be fine to reuse if it's a new carb.

i'm going to x2 the carb. Pull everything apart, spray cleaner through, then air them out and put it all back together. make sure your screws are set properly (1-1.5 turns out on low speed and 2 turns from contact on idle)

The only other thing that i'm curious about is the timing/spark. Could it maybe be that when you did the fan side crank seal the timing plate went in incorrectly? So its running when you pour fuel into the cyl because a spark at any point makes combustion. But when cranking it's sparking at the wrong time? I might be off base being i'm definitely not a pro with these engines. But I know with my Yammie 2-stroke outboards the timing being off can play hell with them running.

what does the plug look like when attempting to run it normally. Have you used a spark checking tool that is gapable?

Could it be the reeds not seating completely?

yes wet or dry plug is a BIG missing clue
esp as it runs with poured in gas
I bet dry plug

if the plug is wet try to heat the plug both to remove oil build up
and to quickly carefully reinsert the hot plug to get it to run
that works on old outboards most times
but that will not work on a dry plug as that = no gas carb problem
