Default Yamaha G2 Body

Anyone have a line on G2 body parts? I recently bought my 86 G2 (which I will start a thread on my build) and after I pressure washed the body, the front body has a very rough texture to it. Like it's been sand blasted. I will probably end up trying to sand it smooth.

Try to hit it with a D/A sander and use around 600 grit to knock it down. Then spray a few coats of hi-build primer and sand it with 800 grit. That's probably about the best you're going to be able to do, unfortunately.

Aside from that, a G2/G9 body won't be easy to find. Trying ebay is probably your best bet. You'd be better off, and have a much easier time buying a body kit, or retrofitting a G8 or different yamaha body on. They won't be a direct bolt-in replacement, but with a little determination, and fabrication of some body mounts, anything can fit.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it would be tough to find, I thought I'd check here. I will try the DA and try to fix it. I should be able to get it in paintable condition. Thanks again for the reply!

Let us know how it turns out! I've got an ugly G2 myself, putting a 420 in it (slowly lol). I've got a considerable amount of body work to make it look good, probably just do the best I can with it and go eat rod style lol

Will do! Be on the look out for my build thread coming soon. I have a bunch of pictures and haven’t really got started yet. I am having a blast with this thing. I’ll start a thread when I figure out the picture upload. Thanks for the reply!

I think I have the best Yamaha mechanic working that as we speak! Thanks. I needed to post a few threads and this was one of them. I emailed you some pictures of my progress....not so much.
