48v system not charging over 49v w/ E.R.I.C
Hey all, could use some collective help. My 2014 Precedent w/ original PD+ 8v batteries (date stamped F4) are not charging properly. Last week, I charged the car (never looked at voltage) and then added distilled water to all 6 batts. I thought I added the correct amt of water to each cell, but now doubting myself. After the water topoff, I then charged the batts again. The charger took all of 3 hrs and then stated charge cycle complete, no led warnings or crazy flashing. The cart showed 48.9v. I tried to charge it two more times now and getting the same pack voltage after complete charge cycles. Are my batts shot, they are 6+ yrs old. Can I test my charger and cart to weed out the problem before new batts?
Appreciate any help provided. |

Re: 48v system not charging over 49v w/ E.R.I.C
6+ year old PD+ batteries?! That’s a miracle by itself. No doubt they need to be replaced.
Grab your voltmeter and go for a drive, about 10-15 minutes. Then measure the voltage of each individual battery While driving. This puts the battery under load and it’s true condition will be revealed. As it is those are resting at or below 8.00V which means they’re technically already dead. Ideally an 8v battery should sit at 8.49v. Pack voltage overall should be about 50.9, depending on battery brand some will rest slightly higher around 52v. What you’ll probably find is individual voltage dropping way into the low 7v range while driving, possibly lower than that. A “good” battery will not drop below 8v while moving. |

Any recommendations where to purchase batteries? Also, which brand, Trojan or Crown? This car barely gets used, sitting more often than driving.

You can't go wrong with Trojan, Crown, or U.S. Batteries
Most cart shops/dealers sell them. |
