05 Precedent won't slow down
When the cart is moving and I let up on the accelerator pedal, the cart keeps going. If I'm going down a hill, it speeds up. On my other Precedent (2013), the cart slows down when I let off the pedal. The one with the problem is my 80 yo mother's. Anybody know what causes this?

Re: 05 Precedent won't slow down
Your Regen brake is not working. Could be that someone removed it in the programming or if they installed a high speed magnet you lose regen....

Re: 05 Precedent won't slow down
Thanks for the information. I think the lack of motor braking is something that started happening in the last year or so. I don't think anyone has reprogrammed anything or upgraded the cart. Do I need to replace a controller to get the motor braking back? Or reprogram it somehow? Or reboot it? Any advice is appreciated.

Check the speed sensor. Let the brake off and try to push the cart by hand. It should beep and you should feel resistance. If it rolls freely and no beep, the speed sensor or magnet is bad.

Re: 05 Precedent won't slow down
OK. It was on a flat concrete floor. I had the key on and tried pushing it in reverse, forward and neutral. Same results. No beeping. It rolled about 6 inches and then I felt a very very small resistance to rolling which continued as I continued to roll. Same amount of resistance each time. Same results rolling forward and backward. Speed Controller?

Re: 05 Precedent won't slow down
Thanks. Did a little homework and crawling under the cart. Found an explanation in a Post titled "DS IQ or Precedent Speed Sensor Test". The motor is the GE with the snap in speed sensor. For $15 I will give it a try. Thanks for the information.

Re: 05 Precedent won't slow down
Are there any negative impacts to having no regen braking or just personal preference?

And you lose the regenerative portion back charging the batteries.
