Default Stainless Battery Hardware

Anyone ever use stainless on their battery or motor studs? The good stuff, 316, not the home depot 304 junk. Wondering if their are any downsides to running stainless? Whatcha think?

Are you talking about SS nuts on the battery studs and the motor studs Right. That is what the batteries come with.

Yessir, that's what I'm talking about. Some of mine must have been replaced with carbon because they were rusty and I had to sand them down to get to shiny metal on my #2 wire upgrade. The ones on the motor were definitely carbon too.

So it's no problem to run stainless seeing as they come with them originally. Thanks for the quick reply

Now the batteries come with SS studs and SS nuts. Not the motor. I don't see why you can't use SS on the motor studs

Sure, use SS on the motor too, much less likely to rust

I'm wondering if placing a copper washer under the SS nut would be OK....

Keep in mind you can have dissimilar metal corrosion. See attached chart. You could coat them with anti-seize but that would cause a problem with electrical connections.

The ring terminals are copper... so I don't see it being a problem.
