1996 48V Club Car | Solenoid heating up
1996 48v Club Car
New Batteries/FR Lever/Charging receptacle June of 2020 Yesterday our 1996 48v club car charged to about 50 volts and then we took it out in our neighborhood. Ran fine and could responsiveness from pedal/solenoid/controller/motor. Today, I came out and was going to charge the batteries back to full. When I hooked up our charger, it wouldn't start. I tested the heat sink, fuse, and relay in the charger and all seems to be working fine. On investigating more, I found that our solenoid on the cart was very hot to the touch. I unhooked all cables on the large terminals and tried to test it using my multimeter, but am unsure if I did it correctly. Based upon my test and the symptoms, I am pretty sure my solenoid is "cooked" and am looking for confirmation before buying a replacement. Also, when I had everything hooked up and pressed the accelerator to test it the solenoid immediately got hot. Are symptoms of a bad solenoid... 1. Won't go forward or reverse - it "shunts" but really doesn't move 2. Hot solenoid 3. Inability to charge. Thanks again for any help. Only my second post and am very appreciative to those that provide support and feedback. CJ |
