I do not often give up, but I have yet to get the wheel off my CC.

I need it off to put a new dash I am making on. One more try this weekend, then it will be faster to take the whole column out..... I would have removed the column sooner but I am p*ssed that I cannot do it...

I have put some extreme pressure on it with the puller, rapped the shaft, spayed with WD....cursed at it....

Any secret chants?

There is some secret you guys will not divulge right ?

Am I the only person who cannot get a steering wheel off ?

The first secret is wd40 is not a rust buster it is a lubricant. PB Blaster is a rust buster. #2 put lots of pressure on your puller then give it one good wack with a 2-3 pound hammer. If it does not come off tighten it some more and repeat 1 -2 wacks with the 2-3 pound hammer. Repeat this process until the SOB pops off

I had a puller on one that didn't want to come off. Used an impact wrench on the puller to kind of rattle it off. Did soak it with pb blaster first. Some just fall off, others a biotch.

I made a puller also similar to Scotty b's,some time right off others no off at all.I put the puller on and load it up,if it doesn't come after some healthy taps with a dead blow,I have a very blunt chisel for my air chisel, zap it a few at the back side of the hub and off she comes.Have to be careful air chisel like to eat!

Get some PB Blaster/ let it sit for a good 10-15 minutes, walk away drink some beer, play with your dash, then come back. 2-3 pound hammer like Scotty says helps too!

Mine wouldn't come off either. I beat it with a hammer and braced my feet on the dash and beat it with a hammer and so on and so on. I also fashioned a home made puller and still had no luck. It's something that some will almost fall off while some won't budge. I ended up taking mine loose down at the steering joint.

Go to Auto Zone. They will charge you a deposit for the Gear/hub puller actual cost. But let you return it and credit the amount back. So the puller is free

I have a bfh. It really is a matter of loading it up and then bumping it loose. You can get a lot more shock value from a light hammer hitting fast than a bfh striking slow .... I know I fed myself with one of those things for many years

Pics of my homemade puller below...

looks like your removal setup would take a wheel off effectively with little hammering.
