I have another question.
Is the item attached to the throttle a v-glide, MCOR or what? can i repair it or is it OK. there is a lot of play in the throttle. i can depress the pedal at least 1/2 way before i get any power to the wheels.
can i check to see if it is working right? are there points that need cleaning inside?

It's a pot-box. Yes you can adjust it, but if you've got that much play it's probably just worn out. The best thing for you to do is to convert to the MCOR which completely eliminates the pot box. Installation is pretty simple and the MCOR will operate extremely smooth compared to most worn out potboxes. They tend to fluctuate frequencies when they get old.

i finally got time to check out the pot box ohms. when the throttle is closed i get 5.68k ohms but at the full open (full speed) position it has decreased to about 3.21 ohms.
i'm lost. does that indicate that i'm nuts or is there something wrong with the pot-box. the cart runs normal except pretty slow.
electronics is not my strongest subject.

Yea it's supposed to be near 0... MCOR conversion kit is what you need.

You can try to adjust it, Ive found that fixes 100% of the time. Ive never had to replace one of those units out.

I will agree with TD the MCOR is a much better system, just pricey on the conversion.
