Its almost a shame to get an upgraded controller and keep stock motor. If you are looking for more torque, I would keep stock controller and go with a plum quick motor insted. This way for around $225, you'll get an extra kick (torque) and higher top speeds. If you are going to use the cart at consistent low speeds this may be a better set up bc you won't get overheating issues that you would with a high speed controller at those low speeds.

Recommended wire sizes by Alltrax
Controller Min wire AWG Standard Duty Min Wire AWG Heavy Duty
300 Amp Stock OEM – 6 AWG 4 AWG
400 Amp 4 AWG 4 AWG
450 Amp 4 AWG 2 AWG
500 Amp 2 AWG 2 AWG
600 Amp 2 AWG 1/0 AWG
650 Amp 2 AWG 1/0 to 2/0 AWG

3.Controller

That's the order I would proceed in. 2 gauge is more than big enough (and not always needed)

btw, on a precedent model, the F&R is controller based, so when you upgrade the controller, you are upgrading the F&R already.

Rabbitreborn-- thank you also for the help. I will pull the motor and order a PQ. I will update in a few weeks when I get it. Thanks for the help.

that's what we are here for. Good luck with that! Oh, by the way, with that PQ motor you'll do atleast 24 -26mph. Scubabud hit 28mph with PQ alone.
