New Alltrax Controller Questions

I recently bout a NPX 4844 Alltrax controller for my 1998 CLub Car Regen. I upgraded the motor to a D&D high speed motor and bought the controller for more torque. After reading the manual it says this controller is not for high speed motors. I contacted the person i bought the controller from and they said it should work fine. Should I try to install this controller or not waste my time? The cart runs with the old controller but I need more torque.

An NPX4844 is for a series wound motor and not compatible with a regen motor.
You need a DCX400 or DCX500 for a regen motor.
If you have a series motor the NPX4844 is fine for a high speed motor.

I would go with whatever controller amp that motor manufacturer recomends for your needs? I always contact them direct to get straight story. Explain what you have in way of extras such as lift heighth and tire diameter, exta weight such as rear seat and HD springs, top, windshield, etc. Alltrax shows for your replacement shunt motor you would need the Alltrax DCX 400PDPLUS controller ( 400 amps ) but for a lifted cart Alltrax recomends either a DCX500PDPLUS or even a DCX600PDPLUS which I think the 600 would be way more than needed?

I agree, I was planning on going with 400. Since I have rear seats, lift, 22's, PQ recommended going with the DCX 500. A DCX 600 may be pushing it. Anything over that is not recommended on a shunt motor. Only so much amps that thinly wired wound motor could take!
