club car has f/r w/o acc.pressed
88 club car, 5 silenoid, 36volt. first silenoid on the driver side, went out
I changed it, now power is on the foward and reverse switch without the key being on or off, and without pressing the accelerator. put it in forward and it arches at the f/r switch and starts moving in forward in high gear. samething in reverse. batteries checked, silenoids checked, micro switches checked, ignition switch checked, wiring checked. |

Re: club car has f/r w/o acc.pressed
Sounds like you may have a solenoid stuck in closed position or some incorrect wiring? Were you having any problems before first solenoid ( drivers side main feed for rest of solenoids ) stopped working? By saying starts moving in high gear do you mean "FULL SPEED" and if so check solenoid nearest passenger side? Sounds like you have confirmed that when key is off that no power is going to micro speed controls and on to solenoids CORRECT?

Re: club car has f/r w/o acc.pressed
Before, I changed the solenoid, the cart would click once, start moving slow, then click twice and full speed.
If I were loading it in the truck, it would buck, when I would try to feather the throttle. I tested a solenoids individualy, all have continuity. when the ignition is off it seems like it bypasses the micro switches, that is correct. |

Re: club car has f/r w/o acc.pressed
Its got to be one or more of your solenoids stuck closed ( internally contacts ) so whenever you move F&R into gear cart starts moving? Remove one solenoid at a time until you find bad ones. NOTE--Not always able to do test with meter as most will show some continuity across large posts because of dirt and metal flecks inside?
Here is sequence of operation. Pedal starts down "main solenoid" ( drivers side closes and stays closed ) feeding other 4 solenoids. Pedal goes further down 2nd solenoid closes vehicle starts moving. Then Same for 3rd solenoid Then Same for 4th solenoid Then Same for 5th solenoid |

Re: club car has f/r w/o acc.pressed
I agree with SCOTTYB once you have one bad solenoid the others will usually be right behind so replace them all. For much better performance and battery life you might consider updating to solid state controls and maybe even a 48 volt conversion? Your present resistor coils are wasteing huge amounts of battery power by converting it into heat to allow cart to run at slower speeds, unless you are wide open all the time?

Re: club car has f/r w/o acc.pressed
I replaced the resistor coils today and got three more solenoids tomorrow.
To convert to solid state is just out of budget this week. Thanks guys! |

I know what its like when your budget doesnt allow for luxuries beyond food and rent and some times not even food?
You can through time get a better idea what you would like the cart to have and start getting parts together as funds become available. |
