We have been doing these swaps a bit longer than others..... Theres really no downside other than a little more wiring. You can get a reversing contactor with the right voltage coil. Cloud Electric has them, don't know of any sponsors that carry them.

The ZJWT's are quieter that the SW202's. I believe these are the Chinese equivalents...but you don't want to buy a REAL SW202.

Heres the simplest diagram to use. It has an SW202 pictured.

Thanks again.
Do you see any negatives to this setup?

Yes, you loose the F&R handle.... the last OMG handle you could grab before you fall out of the cart

Scotty, thats funny right there.

Roady, I like pictures as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure what is what in that picture. I'm guessing
top-right is batteries.
middle-right is 3-way switch
bottom-right is contactor

If that is correct, what is the left side? solenoid on bottom.

i really like this set up. the contactor roadie shows is 139$.. a hd fnr is about the same amount. is this just as stout? the price shown was the same for 24-36 or 48volt. any reason to stay with 24? what else is needed? chevy when you do yours let us know what you think and what you used for a f-r switch.

I already have the switch and contactor. I may try and hook up what I have this weekend and hope I do it right

Select your actuation voltage to match you battery configuration... 36v won't do if you are running 8v batteries. But 24v will

Is this the one you would suggest for a 48v set up (700amp)?

Cool Re: Swaping F&R handle with contactor

Guy's I'm sorry you have so much trouble with this. I have done 2 of my personal carts with these and the dragster had this setup until I burned it up by hooking up the coil to 72 volts by mistake. My mistake!
This is a great contactor for the price. If you don't feel like you can handle it then I would suggest you not do it. I have pictures and directions on how I did it.
Most people aren't going to spend $200-$300 on a F/R contactor. I wouldn't but I found these and thought them to be a good way to do it. I have had the 2000 like this since Christmas and it works great.
If you are confused on a 24 volt coil running a 36 volt cart you need to stop and leave it to someone that understands this.
Any electric component that draws off the 36 volt pack makes the batteries run down faster!
It's the same thing as a 12 volt light running off a 36 volt battery pack.
Sorry just can't understand all this over a contactor. I'm done.

LOL, WOW. Actually that question was meant for Roady as he recommended that model above. Sorry I didn't specify and in turn sent you into a tailspin of frustration dealing with us tards... I get using less than your total pack to close a switch, but is there a down side to using the total pack voltage. Your right maybe this is over my head. By the way, your red writing makes it feel like your always yelling! LOLOLOLOL
