Default steering gear box

so my golf cart stopped being able to turn left a couple days ago and after doing some looking around in the gear box and such i noticed that the bigger gear is loose and the bigger gear and the rack have too much space between them and dont catch when i turn the steering wheel left. how do i resolve this issue? THANKS!

It is fairly impossible for those of us in CyberLand to tell you exactly what is wrong and how to fix any given problem without seeing it. A few pics may help, but by and large we are giving you our best guesses. It sounds to me like the box itself is utterly worn out and in need of at least a rebuild and probably a replacement would be an even better option.

I don't know which year and type buggy you have, but when I rebuilt my '98 TXT series steering box, the rack was very worn in the middle, causing excess slop.

I replaced the rack, pinion, and every bushing that was available, yet it still had more slop than I liked, so I bought a new housing, which had several bushings that would have been hard to replace, and aren't sold.

Bottom line, that fixed the problem.

I got mine from shopezygo.com, but other sponsors may also sell them.
