Exclamation My 36v motor isn't changing speeds

I purchased a red hawk 8hp motor for my 1994 marathon about three years ago. That motor has 2 gears/speeds. I haven't used it so much in the past year. Now It won't switch into that second speed. I tested the batteries and my charging system and they are all fine. The cart runs completely fine except for it not changing into he higher speed. I'm trying to figure out if i need to replace he potentiometer or the speed controller

Welcome to BGW!

If it is running normally at the one speed, I'd take a look at whatever changes the motor from low speed to high speed before suspecting the throttle or the controller.

The motor doesn't do it all be itself.
The driver has to do something.
Push a button, move a lever?

Is Red Hawk the motor manufacturer, or the vendor that sold it to you?

Did a wiring diagram come with it?

Can you post pictures of the motor and under the seat?
