Default No power thru solenoid

I have a 1990 ezgo it was a controller cart I switched out all the pats from a 1983 resistor cart and I cannot get power thru the solenoid. I have power going to it and on both small poles on it but it it does nothing. I have power going to the micro switches and its coming thru not sure what is goin on battery pack has 36.3 volts

Does it click? If it clicks then put a jumper wire between the two large poles and then see if the cart moves. If yes then you have bad contacts in the soleniod. If you dont hear or feel the soleniod click when you put power to the coil then you have a bad coil in the soleniod or no power through the micro. Make sure the soleniod coil is the right voltage for the pack...36v?

If you have power on both small poles, the solenoid isn't be told to activate.
The keyswitch or MS-2 (Microswitch on F/R assembly) is bad, or the wiring is.

Apparently you are converting a controller cart to a resistor cart, so the the solenoid activation circuit should match up with one of the two drawings attached.

yeah.... um. If I can't test a simple solenoid then I'm going to be expected to read the nomenclature in an electrical layout drawing? Better if I put my tongue on the poles it and see if it tingles when I hit the pedal. Dezgo, I would take the wires off the small poles (the coil poles) and put 36 volts to the solenoid from the battery pack and see if it will click for you. Then you will know if it is or is not the coil in the solenoid. If the doner cart has been sitting for a long time and you are useing the solenoid from it, chances are good that it is set up. Post when you find out more.

He's not saying you can't jump test a solenoid, any idiot can.
What he is saying is that the OP posted he has power at both small posts which means he may be missing one side of the solenoid activation circuit, smartass.

JohnnieB I redone the wiring and now I'm getting power to one pole only when I press the gas pedal and constant power on the other but still no power going thru the solenoid

you tested the tiny micro switches? If MS2 has three prongs on it you may have the contacts reversed in the micro. It is on the F&R switch. If it has two prongs and you are sure it works you are good on that one.
