Re: To Plug In or Not To Plug In
I have a part time home in the desert. Read my recent post regarding batts using a ton of water. Might be something to consider...not sure of the outcome if I was not here.

Re: To Plug In or Not To Plug In
Yes you can use a 12v charger to charge two of your 6v batteries at a time. No need to disconnect anything. Positive lead from charger to #1 6v battery positive post and negative from charger to battery #2 6v negative post. Be sure batteries #1 and #2 are connected with a factory cable.
Repeat for batteries #3-#4 then #5-#6. |

DesertBill - the water level is for sure going to be an issue. I'll just make sure to keep some water in our RV and top off before taking the cart out on top off just before we leave on Sunday. Have you found anyway to keep the environment from stealing your water?

Sportcoupe - so I can leave everything connected? I don't need to isolate the batteries in pairs?
If that's the case, then that isn't too much of a pain. Thanks. |

Re: To Plug In or Not To Plug In
I stand corrected. You would only be able to charge 2 at a time without isolating the others.
You might want to try a 36v float charger for leaving it weeks at a time. |

Re: To Plug In or Not To Plug In
I know what the numbers say, but if that was my cart, I'd be sure to have it fully charged before leaving for the 2 or 3 weeks, let it sit, then top off the charge immediately upon arrival. Most manuals tell you to charge the cart once/month when you're not using it, like during a Northern Winter.
Be sure the batteries are clean and dry on top, as that will discharge them very quickly. It won't hurt to have some sort of float or trickle charger, but if absences are less than a month at a time, I wouldn't worry about it. |
