Best Charging method - After every use?
2001 36V TXT PDS
Brand new Trojan T-105 batteries. (6-6volt) Powerwise Charger I want to get the longest life and best use of the batteries. I will be driving the cart 5-10 miles a week. (very minimal, i know) The dealer told me to bring batteries down to 80% for first initial charge, which i just did over the weekend. Going further: Should i plug in after every use? Should i wait until 75%-80% before plugging in charger? |

thanks for the quick reply.
And for battery maintenance: Should i check the water level once a month, once every 3 months, or once every 6 months? |

Re: Best Charging method - After every use?
The dealer should have told you to fully charge the new batteries prior to their first use.
You shouldn't take the pack below 75% Soc for the first couple dozen charges, but you don't have to take it down that far before recharging. Never let the batteries sit in a partially discharged state for any significant length of time. As for how often to check the electrolyte level, you have to play that one by ear since the amount of water the batteries consume varies from cart to cart. Check every week until they need some distilled water and use that interval as a baseline, then adjust up or down as needed as the batteries age. |

I agree with JohnnieB. He has done more than a 'little' research regarding batteries, IMHO.
