Cart stopped running after accident
I have a 1989 EZGO cart that was involved in an accident. It was flipped on its side and some of the batteries came out and they were all brand new. Had all of the batteries tested and all tested good. I rebuilt the battery box. I also replaced all of the battery cables and wiring. Nothing. When I test the voltage at the motor I have 38V on all four posts at the motor. Is that right? Possible bad motor from roll over? Thanks in advance.

Your motor voltages are not right. What are you measuring with respect to?

Re: Cart stopped running after accident
Yes the solenoid does click. I am testing with one lead to the ground on first battery and other lead to each post. All giving me the 38v if that helps.

Re: Cart stopped running after accident
Solenoid is clicking so the problem is in the high current loop.
Connect the negative test lead of your DVM to the B- terminal on the controller and the positive test lead on the M- terminal. When the solenoid first clicks, you should have FULL battery pack voltage. (There may be voltage there before the solenoid clicks, but it will be less than FULL pack voltage.) If not, there is a bad cable, connection or contact in one of the red or blue highlighted wires on the attached schematic. If so, press the pedal slowly to floor and the voltage should decrease from FULL pack voltage down to zero. If it does, and the motor doesn't spin, something should get hot or smoke. If it doesn't, either the throttle input to the controller is bad, or the controller is bad. Let us know what you find and we'll go from there. |
