2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
I am currently in the market for a golf cart. We want one to use around the house/farm and when camping. That being said, a local dealer has a seemingly good deal on a 2012 Yamaha Golf Cart. I have never owned a golf cart, and would like any feedback you guys could give me. Is the Yamaha a good cart? Is it comparable to Club Car? Anything about the 2012 model I need to know?? Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
I own a 2012 Drive and it's great. There are lots of options that affect speed and price. They are solid carts and are very popular here in Rio Verde where I live.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
I purchased a used 2013 Yamaha Drive about one year ago. no complaints here.
Yamaha upgraded the Battery tray/compartment sometime between 2010 and 2012 from (4) 12 volt/48volt) to A battery tray that allows up to eight 6 volt/48volts or six 8volt/48volts. There is also an option to increase speed up to 19 mph (PTV code only available from dealer) |

And now there are plug&play speed & torque upgrades with the Alltrax Xct controller.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
I have a 2010 Yamaha Drive. You can't beat the factory coilover suspension compared to leaf springs on ezgo and club cars. The Yamaha also has a wet, internal disc brake. It's way better then drums. There are several other nicer features on the Yamaha also (like rain gutters and a rattle free ride) but those are the major ones.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
I have a 2009 Drive, and I love it. It rides nice, and is quiet. I put the lift, tires/wheels, back seat and windshield on it. I love the way it looks. I may invest in a new controller, but thats it.
Good luck |

Thank you everyone for the replies. They have been very helpful. I think I am going to go with the Yamaha! Now just have to decide on whether or not to get a lifted one!

You can always add the lift, if you want. Not too difficult to do.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
I bought the stock sized 48 volt one today. May lift in the future kev2504, but happy so far with the regular one. I will be looking to speed it up, if anyone has any tips on that, they would be much appreciated!

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Review/Opinions
If it does 19mph now, its maxed out for stock motor controller. If it does only 12-14, it can be sped up by yamaha for a cost. The Yamaha speed upgrade is hardly worth it, now that the Alltrax XCT aftermarket controller is a 23-24mph and torque upgrade. The stock motor will live longest if the amps are set to 400a or less, and better cables are gonna be needed. Even the 300a XCT model will help torque & 23-24mph speed, and is totally compatable with the stock cables and everything (but not a good choice for offroad use or huge tires).
