Default AXE controller not powering up

A no go problem. 1995 club car 48 volts, AXE 4845 400 amp controller. multi step pot starts at 0 and moves up to almost 5000 ohms. Push the go pedal and get a good click from solenoid. Removed resistor pushed go pedal and get 50 volts through solenoid. Fuse is good on gray lock out wire at charger receptacle. Reverse buzzer works. F&R switch checks out good, it is an HD switch. Removed black wire at #2 pin and white wire at #3 pin on controller and removed the black wire from the 1/2 speed micro on the F&R switch, getting good reading 0 - 5000 from the pot on the black#2pin and white #3 pin. The green light is not coming on on the AXE controller so it is not powering up. Is there something else to prevent the controller from powering up?

You need power (+) at pin #1 when the solenoid clicks.

Ok I need to check that. Pin 1 is a red wire going to one of the small terminals on the solenoid. I thought both those small terminals would have to be hot for the solenoid to activate. I will check and confirm pin 1 has pack voltage. The cart is a couple blocks away so I'll check it tomorrow.
Thanks

Friend called me last night with an AXE control in CO. It would intermittently not go. When it would not go everything worked except the controller green light. Tests showed pin was getting 38v+ when the solenoid clicked but was only coming on some times.

so the next thing we should check is the price of a new controller.

Any suggestions for a good 400 amp replacement?

We have NPX 400 with HD solenoid for $379 or GE500a and HD solenoid for $419

Hello All, I did some trouble shooting on this cart back in May or June. Determined the controller was bad. The owner of the cart took the cart in to our local dealer for a second opinion and had the controller replaced. They had her cart for three months. Wow that seems a little on the long side. They installed an AXE 4855 R8 500 amp, they told her they had to have it custom built. I don't know what year this cart is, I can not find a serial number.
It has a multi step potentiometer with five wires coming out of it all hooked up with butt connectors. 0 -5K

The bad controller was an Alltrax AXE 4846 400 amp

How can I tell if this is a custom controller?
Three months seem normal to get a controller?
The cart now has a herkey jerky throttle response. Would this 500 amp controller amplify any faults with the multi step pot?

Thanks

It could amplify the 'steps' in the signal... another control may have been a better fit but you are stuck with the one you got now... so try reducing the ramp up rate to soften the throttle steps. Worse case replace the multistep with a true potentiometer device but, that will take fabrication of some sort.

This summer did see Alltrax fall way behind in production of older model controls... too bad they didn't give her the new XCT control.

Thanks Scottyb. I'll do some searching on how to reduce the ramp up rate. I'll check out the xct control also.
