Thumbs up My FE290 Diesels

I have a '95 Club Car with an Kawasaki FE290, it starts fine and runs fine my problem is after I have run it for a bit varying the throttle when I get back to my house and shut it off by way of the throttle pedal it will most of the time diesel. The carb air /fuel screw is @ 2 turns out the fuel is 87 non ethanol and the exhaust stinks and almost to the point of making your eyes water. Anyone have an answer?

Welcome to BGW!

Dieseling is usually caused by excess carbon on the head and valves,
The easiest way to try to resolve it is, get a new spark plug... AND... some Seafoam!

Remove the old spark plug... pour about a little less then shot glass (1 oz) of Seafoam in the spark plug hole,
Reinstall the old spark plug, WITHOUT connecting the plug wire!
Turn the engine over for about 10 seconds, and then let it sit and soak for about an hour,
Move the cart outside, reinstall the plug wire, and start the cart.
(It'll smoke like heck... start it outside!)
When it stops smoking, install the new spark plug, and take it for a good ride!

If that doesn't work, you may need to pull the head and manually clean the carbon off of the head!

Hope this helps!

Also check to see if your throttle butterfly is closing completely. There is a screw to adjust that on the carburetor. When mine started doing that it was the throttle butterfly not closing completely letting it continue to pull in fuel.

Well I guess the answer was to install an aftermarket carb with new gaskets, seems to have straightened out the problem by about 95%. Thanks for all your help.
