Gah, I have replaced the carb, put everything back together and it still turns over wonderfully but seems like zero spark. Here is the strange thing.
I just happened to repeatedly click the bottom of the two starter limit switches that I replaced previously and I can get it to backfire if I rapidly click that switch while holding down the gas pedal to start it.... Any ideas?

Yes, the bottom switch of the two, If I click the bottom one repeatedly while starting, the engine will reliably backfire. I'll test to make sure I did not hook it up backwards or something.

I just have to ask... Did you check the compression?

Try pulling one of the wires off of the bottom switch of those two. It's function is to ground the ignition when you let off the gas pedal. I still have to wonder though because you said in you original post that you had good spark when you checked it - plug against ground. If you had spark, and have compression (according to above readings) the fuel mix is about all that's left. Have you tried lightly spraying a bit of carb cleaner straight into the carb throat? Too much is as bad as too little.

Ok, did more testing today. I have a confession....
Sure, I saw great blue spark, BUT ONLY when I let off the pedal. (I had never tested for spark before, so I tentatively pumped the gas once or twice like a frightened child and saw two blue sparks while I was letting OFF the accelerator.) :) Today I solidly grounded the plug and saw NO spark until I let off the pedal!!! Then I saw one nice big one but that was it. So I was accidentally giving you guys bad information!!!
