86 club bad voltage reg??
had my first camping weekend with nice weather and it was awesome. Ran into a prob with the club car. started having trouble starting as if the starter gen was not powerful enough to turn the engine. Seems like the voltage regulator buzzes really loud when its trying to start. Does that sound like the issue? Voltage regulator buzzes so bad you can feel it at the gas tank lol

Re: 86 club bad voltage reg??
Are you sure it's the voltage regulator making the noise? I've never known one of the solid state regulators to make any kind of noise. Might it be the starter solenoid? Need to check voltage at battery, at solenoid and at the starter/generator. I've often heard Solenoids "buzz" when battery voltage is to low or solenoid is bad. Now if the battery voltage is low then we can start looking at the voltage regulator as one possible reason.

Re: 86 club bad voltage reg??
Yes, it COULD be, but again the buzzing you describe isn't normally a sound a starter generator would make. It's tough to tell over the internet, LOL. Can you put your finger on the part that's buzzing? As I said before I've never known one of the solid state voltage regulators to make any noise, they really don't have any moving parts to vibrate and make a buzzing noise. I know you changed the solenoid and that didn't help, but can you feel if the "buzz" is coming from the solenoid? I suspect it is, in which case I would check for good clean, tight connections - power & ground. Maybe even run a jumper wire from the frame to the battery neg, &/or from the starter generator to frame or battery ground.
