Default How hi in volts should the pack go during charging

I have a 2001 Club car ds. Recently i changed all the wires to 2 awg and i was able to get the 2awg to go through the OBC and had no problems. Even more recently i changed the controller to a Alltrax dcx 500 IQ. Since changing the controller i have noticed that the battery charger runs a long time and with a volt meter have checked it and i am getting 64.5-65 volts in the battery pack while charging. I have reset the obc and it still goes for a ling time. Im afraid im going to do damage to the batteries. Is this voltage normal when charging. I let it sit for 4 hours at 64.5-65 volts the charger would turn on and off periodically like 20 minutes charging then 2-3 minutes off then back on. Is that normal?

That is too high. The charge voltage should be in the 58-59v range. You might see a lot of different opinions on this. That is because they are also using the same crappy Club Car PD charger. For one charge this might be normal but time after time it isn't. Best advise is to replace your charger with a modern DPI. One more question. What's the current reading when the voltage is that high?

I disagree.

My new Lester charger takes the pack to 65v and I asked Trojan battery specifically about the T875 and this cut off number. They assured me repeatedly that the charger was not hurting the batteries in any way.
They make the battery - I gotta believe they know.

I agree the voltage is correct...but..when the charger runs for a long time it can indicate that your batteries are getting tired and may have to be replaced. Usually the batteries also start to use extra water another sign that new batteries could be in your future.

My Powerdrive 3 cuts off at 67.1 volts. The 48volt battery pack is Trojan 875s that are 3 months old. 2010 Precedent Excel.

Trojan told me that the daily charge is 59.2 volts. With the warning that constant
under or overcharging will damage the battery and shorten its life.

I guess Trojan needs to get their story straight and call Lester.

I recently tested my DPI charger to see how high it brought my batteries. It brought them to 63 volts on Mode 3 for Crown batteries...

According to the current Trojan literature I have they call for 64.8 so I see absolutely NO reason to call voltages of 62 to 65 volts too high...
