Been there. I quickly killed the stock motor when I went to Alltrax controller. Now I am running a D&D and it runs great.

I've been reading a bit & it seems there's an Alltrax 300, 400 & 500A models. I know 500A will kill the motor w/a quickness. Seems 300A is a waste so it looks like the 400A is what I need. I bought this mostly for my 14yo to drive around the neighborhood. She told me today "I logged it going 11.1mph on GPS. What can we do to make it go faster?" I told her it'd take $500 & she said "ouch!". She wants a lift, tires, wheels, rear flip seat, lights, windshield & the list goes on. I created an animal!!! All in due time as we're moving into a new home as we speak & that took most of my money.
What speed can I expect w/stock tires, motor & Alltrax XTC-48400?
Longevity w/stock motor?

I got the 500 Amp Alltrax but I had it dialed back to 400 Amps when my motor died from overheating. I would recommend getting the 500 amp Alltrax even if you are sticking with the stock motor. You can always dial it back and then if you want more power in the future (with a motor that can take more power) then you can dial it up again.

Is this kit worth saving $125:
http://wildaboutcarts.com/performanc...or-controller/
Or is this one much better for $125 more:
http://www.plowmanscarts.com/carts.c...1481751931&v=2

Any other kits or a reasonably priced motor to go along w/the Alltrax XTC 500?

I upgraded to the Alltrax 500 (set to 400 amps) along with the solenoid and 2 gauge wires. With stock tires, it will go 22+ on a flat and over 25 downhill. Uphill only 11mph.

Some of the stock motors were subject to a recall for speed issues (during the warranty period), Yamahas fix was a new brush holder with tiny brushes. This gets you the speed back, and the expected results of small brushes and increased power will be along shortly to f your day. End result= forget the stock motor for anything other than stock use.
