Default New to me 36V EZGO...need help, what model is this???

All,

Purchased my second cart yesterday, picture attached. It's been sitting for several years. I got it home and could only get 28v reading from batteries. Connections are rusted/corroded.

I ordered a new cable set and want to order a new charger relay to make sure those are in good order. I'm going to see if batteries are salvageable. They are Nov/2012 Trojans. Maybe good enough to just get cart going again.

My first question, and most important, is what model cart is this? Second, what is that relay called that tells charger when to turn on and when to turn off? Third, is 28V enough to trip charger on or should I try to charge each up to 6V (36V total) then try again?

Also, the charger has been sitting with the cart, uncovered, under a tree, for several years.

Thanks again.

Maybe a 2002 EZGO Workhorse ST350?

It's a Ezgo workhorse or ST (shares many parts with TXT). You need to charge the batteries up more before trying to charge. I bet the charger is ok.

I'd open up the charger and give it a good cleaning before trying it. Could be dirt, dust, spiders, dirt dobbers, leaves, roaches, etc. that may cause problems with shouting out the circuit board, and reduce the ability to dissipate heat.

My path lighting got filled with ant nests, so I eliminated them.

Guy I bought it from said him and his dad out the bed on it that matters.

I'm gonna take charger cover off and clean as well as individually charge batteries.

Also, is it PDS or DCS. F/R lever below seat and no tow switch. Thanks.

Neither, it is "series". DCs &PDS were both "sepex". Series is better for torque.

Right on. I'm on EZ-GO's parts website and it ask what model ST. But, I found a serial number Lookup which, hopefully, will tell me exactly which model.

The cart you have there is in reality a TXT....it just has a different nose/cowl on it, although it is a factory cowl, the designator....is an ST. The relay you are talking about is part of the charger itself, there isn't a separate relay. if you already have an EZGO charger that has the same plug as the one you got....it will work. The fact that your batteries are only 28v now, you will need to get them up to about 32v or so before the charger will work. the easiest way to do that would be to use an automotive battery charger and charge them up in pairs.

I don't think it's an ST according to EZGOs site. The earliest 36V ST model is a 2+2'Sport and it only goes back to 2003.

I think it's a Workhorse or MPT that's been lifted. The top has handles also, which I don't believe came on the ST.

I'm gonna do serial lookup and I'll post once I get it.

I'll charge the batteries up and see if that gets her charging.
