Hahhah yeah you're right terrible wheather ! But to be honest, i can say i got the best of both world,, because my RVX and the new batt both come from florida because you're right price here doesn't make sense !!

what is the best brand of battery for a Club Car DS 48volt?

I found so far

Duracell @ Sams Club ~$100.00

Interstate @ Costco ~100.00

When I was looking last year Duracell is made by Deka and got good reviews. I was going to give them a try but went lithium instead.

Have Duracell, with a made in WI tag, going on our 5th year. Before that had Trojans that lasted 8. A lot depends on use and care. I am a nut about making sure they're watered and charged, plus we use our cart (a 2000 DS) to mainly take hay to our horses and move stuff around the property. That said we have a monster hill coming back to the house that it goes up at least twice a day.

Ill jump in with my order of how I feel batteries hold up.
First Ill state, hot weather, run hard and used as transportation as well as golf.
Long distances with Petal to the metal for many miles.

Trojan

Deka ( same as Duracell)

US They do not hold up well to the above

Crown I feel they have cut quality in the last couple of years

Interstate, made in mexico by Johnson controls- doesn't hold up as well as the others in this area.

I have a set of US Battery which were new when I bought the cart (2012 model) a year ago. They are now returning better figures than they were when they were new. I'm expecting 6-7 years from them, at least. At the time I bought the cart I had only really heard of Trojans so I queried the US Battery ones with the dealer. His opinion was they were just as good as the Trojans and to back up his conviction he doubled the warranty for me (2 years instead of 1) - no doubt knowing that there was very little chance of any problems in that short time.

Are you sure you are not confusing Crown and Trojan?

Your description of Crown is exactly what I have heard from more people than I can count about Trojan including dealers and end users. Everything from terminal quality to lead content.

A few years ago Crown upped there quality, but I think that diminished, I saw Trojan price go up and quality go down in 2008, but it looks like they came back from that, as for sure they were losing market share to other battery companies

I heard within the last year Trojan got bought out by an investment firm. Since then, they are making one battery for Interstate. Now interstate is running a sales pitch saying that Trojan is making all there batteries now.
