That's partially what i was getting at. DS's rear crossmember is not designed to support any decent weight. Twisting down with long receiver/hitch make it that much worse. For real towing you need a hitch that is similar to a hitch used on pickups. It puts all the load on the frame rails rather than the thin little aluminum angle that crosses the frame at the rear.

Holy cr@p Dondeebarnbuggy. You made yourself a class 5 hitch and put it on a class 1 puller. Love to see the outhouse on the old farm. That thing must be able to take a nuclear strike. :)

Thanks. Actually while being strong, [I only like building stuff ONCE], I tried to keep it fairly light. Think the whole thing weighs 18 pounds. The hitch point is the key to making these carts pull though, as it can move loads of hay [3 1/2 to 4 tons] around the yard on fairly level ground.
