Club Car Brake Lights

I notice that sometimes when I set my brake during playing that my brake lights come on and other times they don't. This is without the light switch being on. What is normal? I assume this could be a switch issue with the brake pedal.

Normally when setting the parking brake, the brake lights should NOT come on. The brake lights will work regardless of whether the head lights are on or not. It sounds like you have a switch going out, there should be one on the backside of the brake pedal itself that is switched when the parking pad is pressed...that switch de-activates(opens the circuit) the parking switch under the cart.

What is the year and make of your cart ? some early 2000 ds had two switches , one underneath on brake lever the other behind the pedal with a rod come up from underneath turning the first switch off

It does depend on how they are set up. My 2005 precedent Gaser, the brake lights come on when the brake is pressed and stay on for 4 minutes when the park brake is set. My 2003 DS I set up the brakes on it myself, they come on with the brake pedal and stay on for 30 seconds when the park brake is set. Neither cart will come on with the key off.
