hot resistor coils
newby here! is the resistor coils suppose to get red hot while driving around the yard slowly?if not what might be the cause?

It is working correctly. Resistor carts regulate speed by wasting various amounts of amps with a series of graduated resistance coils. The slower you go the more amps it has to waste. These amps are wasted in the form of heat burned off from the coils...... they are plenty hot enough to burn ya or start a fire in tall dry grass or brush...... Be careful and enjoy

The cart draws the same amount of amps to go full speed as it does to go slow. It just wastes the difference. This is why the later 'solid state controller' carts last longer on a charge.
