Yep, DPI was the top dog around here for years, but that spot has been taken by the Summit II.

agreed. unless the charger or obc is shot, keep both. even when the charger breaks you can buy a rebuild kit for ~$35 from vendors here

So with that charger I would bypass my OBC? Is it plug and play like my PD2? What would I have to do to my cart to use the summit II?

Yep, that charger would bypass it entirely. You would rewire the cart as outlined in the sticky below, then you could use the new charger.

I'd say if your charger works fine and the OBC works it's not really worth it to replace them. Sounds like you have pretty good maintenance and charging habits which will always make any battery last longer. While it does help to have the correct charge profile to match the batteries you use, the difference is not so great that I would consider replacing the charger just for that. But if you're into "techy" stuff and want to see stored charging info, or if you want to have an on-board charger setup for space/simplicity reasons, a Summit II is the way to go.

You will need to modify 2 wire connections on the cart. Literally one yellow crimp connector, and one Blue crimp connector or splice connector is all that's really necessary.

You will need a 10k ohm 1/2 watt resistor if you want to retain the charger lockout function when using an off-board charger. If you don't care or don't need the charger lockout function, then you don't need the resistor.
If you install the Summit II 650w charger On-board you don't need the resistor.

On the OBC You'll have 2 10awg black wires going in. Cut, strip, and crimp those two wires together. That connects the Receptacle negative wire directly to the B- of the controller which is pack negative.
In the 6 pin harness connector for the OBC find the White and Light Blue wires. Cut strip and crimp the two wires together on the cart side. Or cut the connector off of the OBC leaving a few inches of the white and light blue wires. Join them together and leave the connector plugged into the cart harness. The other wires can be trimmed off or you can disassemble the plug and pull the pins out so only the white and blue are left.

Then you can use any smart charger you want.

I think I'll just hang tight with my current charger. To much time to overthink things.

Good decision, I totally agree!

I was better off with the obc and PD2! I'd like to have them back actually. But my obc had went out and I jumped on at the time NEW DPI IV before it got all the bad press and got dumped.

The DPI is a good charger. I still use one. The problem we saw was a somewhat common failure on the control board around the time the 2 yr warranty ended.
The Lester summit is not only smarter, has a phone app, allows selection of many various charge algorithms, keeps a charge history, and has a 4 yr warranty.... not wonder the new kid is so popular.
