You guys must not be very mechanically inclined. There is no need to replace the u-bolts even if you could buy ones long enough to accomodate the extra leaf and 1" spacer. This stuff is not rocket science. I have been a heavy equipment mechanic -fabricator-crane operator for over 40 years and I KNOW what I can and can't do with projects like this.

This forum used to have a lot more knowlegeable people than there seems to be here lately.

There is a LOT of cart specific stuff I have to learn and need help with but things like that project is not one of them.

I was not knocking your fabrication skills, everything else looks good. I personally just would NOT trust those u-bolts and would go with the correct length ones.

Good luck with your project.

Mike

Does EZ-GO have rear spring U-bolts that are 1 1/2" longer than the ones that were on my Marathon? Some of the experts here think I should have bought them rather than using the 42 cents a piece coupler nuts to extend mine.

There are 2 different sizes available from OEM. What total length do you need? (from apex to thread end) I'm not sure I have anything that tells me the original U bolt size for the Marathon? From your picture, I would guess that the U's from the Factory kits would be the correct size, though. What do you estimate the needed length is?

Mike,

What factory kit are you talking about? The U-bolts if they are available would need to be about 6" long.

All this long U-bolt talk is irrelevant for an electric TXT based cart. (which the OP has) The rear is nothing like a marathon. The rear spring pads are different. The stock uses a squared off type u bolt but when you lift can throw those away if you want or re-use them. The kits I have seen use long bolts. If your a DIY guy you can use 5" long bolts, a notched lift block and the spring plates. No need for a u-bolt at all. The New Jakes rear lift block uses normal length bolts or you "can if you want" use the stock u bolts.

This is an Electric TXT type rear axle. You would have to cut the spring pads off to use U-Bolts like jauguston is suggesting and find a spring perch to weld to the top of the axle. No need to because you don't have to. They never lifted a marathon from the factory so there isn't going to be an OEM U-bolt part for it. There may be something you can use from a newer model. Also, there are many different u-bolt lengths available.
