Precedent gear change
Hi Gang,
Got new 8:1 gears for the '05 Precedent, and needing some helpfull advise on removing the old gears & installing new ones. I will remove the left "U" bolt holding the spring to the axle tube, then after draining the rear end lube, looks to me that I can remove the left rear wheel, left brake clevis pin, and then remove the left axle & axle tube as a unit. Then split the case, and I think at that point the gears will be accessable. I know I will need to get the bearings pressed off & then back on the new gears. I don't think I need to remove the whole rear end, or the motor. Interested in your thought please. THANKS, Dave |

Re: Precedent gear change
Obviously, there is not much interest in a Precedent gear change, but thought I would pass along my experience so far.
I removed the entire rear end assembly from the car, and did have to remove the motor from the rear end assembly, because there are two bolts (among the total of 11) that cannot be removed unless the motor is removed. Gotta get the bearing pressed of the old gears and installed on the new ones, and then reassemble. Have fun! Dave |

Re: Precedent gear change
It's all good.
Took the old & new gears to a club car dealer and they pressed old off & new on. As I remember from this past Jan., I used regular motor oil & I want to replace it with Mobil 1 oil. Have fun, Dave |

Re: Precedent gear change
I am interested in how much torque you lost, and where you got the gears from?
Anyone else know where to find 10:1 gears for CC precedent? OT |

Re: Precedent gear change
I got the gears from a golf cart dealer, and they got them from Nivel.
Sorry, I can't tell you much about loss of torque - we use the car in Phoenix, just on the city streets that are flat, no hills to climb. |
