another newbie..big problem
Newbie here..Hello everybody..I own a fairly old Carryall-1. I don't know its exact year but it looks like its from the mid to late 90s. I've had it for about 5 years and its been years since its ran smoothly, since then it was constantly breaking down. A while ago i decided to turn it on after about a year of it just sitting there. I was amazed it ran but later found out it doesnt fully turn off. The motor keeps running after i turn it off with the key. The only way I could turn it off was by pulling off the spark plug cable. Before I pulled the spark plug I took it for a quick spin and it ran great. I don't really have a clue to why this is but i suspect its something with the key ignition or the battery. Any help or tips will appreciated.
-Thanks |

Re: another newbie..big problem
This is not a big problem, I stayed away from this thread all day just because I didn't want to deal with a 'BIG' problem A big problem is when the connecting rod is sticking out of the side of the engine. Or when the wheel comes off while racing down hill? Those are big problems....
What you need is a new solenoid IF your engine ground cable is intact and the shut off micro in the black box is working |

one more "if" to toss in on Scottyb's list. Before you replace the solenoid, since you said it had been setting for quite a while without being used, check and make sure that the cables are all working freely and are returning to the stop position. This could also act like the solenoid is sticking.

Make sure the kill wire to the magneto is connected. The junction is right behind oil fill tube. Like Scotty said this wire goes to a limit switch in the black box then to the back of the F-R limit switch, then to ground.
